On-farm evaluation of drip irrigation system on coffee production in Western Oromia, Ethiopia

Ethiopian coffee production is greatly hampered by frequent droughts.This study aimed to evaluate the performance of a drip irrigation system for on farm. Additionally, it estimated amount water required crops. An experiment was conducted 5-year-old plant with 2m spacing between lines and plants. Catch cans were used installed system. Based these, average hydraulic characteristics system, distribution uniformity 93.55%, Christiansen coefficient 95.40%, flow variation 18.52%, 5.59%. Coffee plants grew produced more when used. A fresh cherry yield 6785 kg ha-1 obtained under irrigated 2346 non-irrigated coffee. Compared coffee, had highest crop use efficiency 2.5 mm-1, lowest 1.7 Similarly, (3.6 m-3), whereas (1.4 m-3). These findings show that irrigation, compared plants, enhances 65% 60%, respectively. In order boost production, yield, components, efficiency, helpful technique in locations limited resources extended drought spells. Int. J. Agril. Res. Innov. Tech. 13(1): 42-47, June 2023
